Up, up and away to RAF Hendon!

To bring our learning about the Blitz and the Battle of Britain to life, Year 6 visited RAF Hendon this week.

We took part in a brilliant workshop – identifying and handling key objects from the Blitz and thinking about how Londoners’ daily lives were impacted by this devastating period. Then the air-raid siren sent us scurrying to the shelter where we stayed quiet until we heard the all-clear.

Afterwards, we explored the museum’s amazing display of British and German aircraft. It was fantastic to see these incredible aircrafts in person!

The children also got to try on different RAF uniforms and learnt about the different roles and awards given to men and women who served.
