Over half term, when you have finished reading a book that you’ve particularly enjoyed, please could you comment about it below. Think about why you enjoyed it and who it would be suitable for. You could even include a few summarising sentences, but be careful not to give away too much…!
This book is called Flora the fancy dress fairy. This book is about Kirsty’s cousin holding a magnificent fancy dress ball, and Rachel and Kirsty can’t wait. But Jack Frost is holding it in the same place. Kirsty and Rachel are cousins. By Tia
I want to say something about a book called The Diamond Brothers in… The French Confection. It is one of the many books in the series “The Diamond Brothers” by Anthony Horowitz. It is a mystery book where nothing is what it seems. The Diamond Brothers (Nick and Tim) work together to solve the confusing mystery. But because Tim is (according to the author) idiotic, Nick does most of the work. (The only work that Tim does is being silly.)
I like this book because every word is a cliff-hanger. It is a child-friendly thriller. I like it because it is hilarious. I had lots of fun reading it, and I highly recommend it to other children in my class. I would particularly recommend it to people who like adventure and crime books. I think it is for children who are 7+.
I have just finished “Angels like me”, and it was a fabulous book. It was about an ordinary girl called Riley, and her friends Pearl, Kitt and Sunshine, the angels. But there is a secret, hidden in Riley’s knicker drawer. Can the angels help her find out what it is?
As this book is about angels, it would be fairly suitable for children who are quite young. So I would recommend this to people 5~10.
I am currently reading a book called Beast Quest :The quest begins. Although I have read it already it is no less exciting than before. It is about a boy named Tom and he is sent to free the beasts that once protected the kingdom of Avantia. This book is suitable for children 7-13 years old. If you like this book then there is about 100 or more Beast Quests to read. P.S in a series there is 6 books and there are over 10 series plus some extra long bumper editions too.
I liked this book called The Snow Queen By Hans Christian Andersen because it was so adventurous and imaginary. It has unusual illustrations by Sanna Annukka and amazing descriptions!
I would recommend this book for seven years up.
Personally I would prefer a different type of book so I would give this book three and a half out of five!
I have read Alice In Wonderland before and really enjoyed it, so I decided to read Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll.
I liked it when the illustrations by John Tenniel showed Alice climbing into the mirror, and there were lots of unusual and imaginary people and animals in this book. If you enjoy this book you will also like Alice in Wonderland. I think these books are good for children of nine years plus.
I am also reading bits of my sister’s book: ‘Believe it or not’. It is like Guinness Book of World Records. It talks about things you would never imagine. My personal favourite is the world’s fattest human whose name is Walter Hudson and he has 20,000 calories a day which is the same as how much me or you have in more than a week. I’d say this book is for all ages (except for people who are squeamish).
By Kobi O’Sullivan (: (:
I have just finished reading a great book called The Cat Who Wanted To Go Home by: Jill Tomlinson. This book is about this Cat who is not so happy about going to England in a hot airballoon with a man. The other people who are in the town think she is so cute. Then the Cat tried to swim back to France where she was born but it was no good. She then tried to get back in a great big boat and it was the best trip ever, plus it got here home and she was so happy. YES! I would recommend this book to people aged 6+years. If you like this book you might be interested in this list of stories below:
①The owl who was afraid of the dark.
②The gorilla who wanted to growup.
③The hen who wanted to know.
④The penguin who wanted to findout.
I hope you like the book.
This book is called Jacky Daydream, and it sounds like fiction, right? But it isn’t! It is actually an autobiography of Jacequline Wilson. The book describes how Jac was so dreamy, how much she loved writing, how much she loved and played with her dolls.
I particularly enjoyed this novel because I’m a big fan of Jacequline and it was amazing to find out what she got up to when she was little! I’d recommend this if you’re 6~12 years old.
I have read the book called Battle Bugs The Lizard War. It is written by Jack Patton. It’s a fiction book featuring bug island and a boy called Max. The book has some good detailed pictures and is very interesting and I felt like I was in the story. At the end of the book there are some real life bugs information. I would recommend for people 8 years and above to read this book.
I really liked Astro Boy books 1 and 2. It’s about a man whose son named Tobio dies in a hovercar crash so he makes a new lifelike robot who he also named Tobio just like his son but sells “Tobio” to the circus because he doesn’t grow like his real son.The circus names “Tobio” Astro Boy and a Professor named Prof. Ochanomizu buys him from the circus because Astro Boy is not being treated properly and shortens his name to Astro.
I would recommend this to people who like comics because it’s a graphic novel. It has a lot of little stories as well as one big story in each book. *****
I have read a book called Kensuke’s Kingdom. I would recommend this book for anyone age 7-13 years old, people who enjoy reading about adventures would probably like this book. It features a boy called Michael and an old man called Kensuke who lives with a group of Orang-Utans. Michael falls off his boat the Peggy-Sue, this is where the adventure begins. Some parts of this book are sad and some bits are happy. This is a great book.
Another good book is Fleabag Monkey Face. This book is extremely hilarious, especially the bit when the boy lifts up a pole with two sheep and says it the biggest cotton bud in the world to stop the monsters killing everyone. You need to read this yourself to find it funny- it’s in the year 3 classroom.
I would like to recommend a book called Gangsta Granny because it makes you laugh a lot. Sometimes the chapters end on good cliff hanger twisters!
The story is about a boy called Ben who is 11, he is meant to stay with his granny every Friday but is really bored because all she wants to do is eat cabbage and play scrabble… until he discovers that his granny is a jewel thief. Ben suddenly gets to be very intrigued and Ben goes from wanting to be a plumber, to wanting to steal the… (you have to read the book to find out!) I would recommend this book for 6 + because he or she might not understand the jokes. If you enjoy this book then you might also like Demon Dentist because they’re by the same author.
by Edward
My book recommendation is called ‘Wonder’ by R J Palacio. It is about a boy called August who has a medical condition that makes him look very different. His eyes are positioned low down on his face and he says he looks awful.
He doesn’t go to school until he is 11 and he finds it worrying because he thinks people will stare at him and whisper about him and not talk to him.
He is actually a brave, kind and funny boy and he manages to find 2 good friends called Jack and Summer. This story follows them and August’s sister through their school days.
Sometimes it makes me feel sorry for him but it also makes me really laugh.
You should read this if you like funny and sad stories.
I just finished Football Mad and it’s about a boy called Mark who wants to get Robbie Kid’s autograph, but he has to win a 5 aside tournament. He has to choose 5 people for his team and someone called Spicer tries to bully the five people into getting rid of Mark.
This book is called Pugs of the Frozen North. There is a Boy called Captain Jeggings and he has more then 109 dogs and he is in a very cold place and he needs food.A girl who is called Lucy said she would give him food but she put something else in the dog food . The boy loved her.She said she would give the boy food for a dog and he said yes because the dogs were starving. Instead they got together for their whole life and kept all the puppies.
This book is called “White Boots” and is by Noel Streatfield. It is about a girl called Harriet, who has been ill and has cotton-woolish legs. She takes up ice-skating and discovers she has a natural talent for it. Her new best friend Lalla Moore wants to be the best ice-skater in the world when she grows up. When Harriet finds she is really good at ice-skating, her friendship with Lalla is under threat. She has to decide between her friend and her own future. But she soon realises you just have to tell the truth… I enjoyed this book because it is quite dramatic but, for all the drama, it has a rather funny ending. I would recommend it to children of 7+ and, out of 5 stars, I would give it 4.9.
I am reading Beast Quest. The first few Beast Quests are called Ferno the fire dragon, Sepron the sea serpent and Arcta the mountain Giant. It’s about a boy called Tom who lives with his uncle and auntie and his uncle is a fisher and Tom has got to stop Ferno the fire dragon from making all the water go. He also has to stop Sepron the sea serpent from making tidal waves and he also needs to stop Arcta the mountain from making rock slides. I’d recommend this for 6 and over and give it 4 out of 5 stars.
