It is a question which fascinates the world: are we alone in the universe?
The possibility of alien existence forms the basis of many discussions, as well as book and film plots. However at the moment, no one knows the truth.
So, what do you think? Do you think that it seems impossible that we are the only intelligent life form in the universe and that there must be ‘something’ out there? Or do you think aliens are just a great way to liven up a story? What conspiracy theories are there? Do governments know something we don’t?!
Let’s get a discussion going…I want to hear what you think!
Are we alone in the universe?
I think aliens do exist.
End of story.
I saw this article on Metro and they said they spotted a ‘spaceship’ on some planet I don’t remember. It couldn’t have been some hole because it had 90° turns (?).
Besides this universe is huge, meaning unicorns could even exist.
Exactly.
I completely agree with Sarah, unicorns could exist!
Really? That pic at the top is so stereotypical of aliens….where’s the imagination these days?
Lol this discussion thing is failing, it’s just me an’ Sarah. I guess most people do their homework on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday ( a good thing to find out for some random reason )
Anyway, the space is (as far as we know) infinite. There’s no way we can be the only life, we may be the only life of our level of intellect but there is other life for certain. In 19something, we sent a radio signal saying ‘hello’, maybe that is not such a great idea if some really powerful form of life is alerted to our presence, we may be facing an alien invasion. Of course we’ll all be dead by that point but it’s a sort of exciting thing to think about for now. =D
I think we are not alone.
There have been lots of photographic evidence that show UFOs. I think one of the reasons that aliens haven’t landed on earth is because the human race would be scared of what they don’t understand and try to capture or kill them.
One part of human evolution cannot be explained. This is known as the ‘missing link’. Me and my Mum have discussed the idea that maybe the missing link is DNA from an alien race. Obviously, this is yet to be proven, but it hasn’t been disproven either!
The universe is infinite. This means that there is an infinite chance that ‘aliens’ do exist. Why do we call them aliens anyway? There could be creatures in a distant galaxy staring at and going “what are those round things stuck in their heads? It’s GROSS!”
I agree with everyone else. Statistically it is almost certain that there is other intelligent life forms in the infinite universe we know. After doing my research, most people have stated that aliens do exist. One fighter pilot, was doing a routine flight in training when he said he saw a disk shape thing flying away from him and tracked it for a bit but it suddenly took off and disappeared.
I feel that it is hard to believe that we are the only type of human species. But I think the stereotypical alien life form is not true. The big eyes and slimy skin looks very unreal. But even though it is a tv show, Doctor Who is an alien but he is in a human life form so you never know there might be aliens on this planet already.
I think that other creatures do exist but not like aliens we see in the movies or what we think of aliens . Probably mutated humans, with no ray guns or technological space ships and that stuff. This is my opinion, but who knows there could be aliens out there…
How many planets are there in the universe? About a trillion. That’s a thousand billion. Or a million million!
Are you telling me that there is no single life form on any of those planets apart from Earth? Oh, come on.
How old is the universe? 13.8 billion years! That’s 13.8 thousand million years by the way. Are you telling me that in all that time only one planet has produced life?!
How old is the human race? Around 200,000 years. Sounds like a long time, but it’s a blip in the life of the universe. Are you saying that we know everything already?!
People say that no-one’s ever seen or met an alien. But: 1. Earth would be like finding a needle in a haystack for them; and 2. If aliens were clever enough to get here, they would be clever enough to avoid being seen by us.
So, I’m actually quite confident that aliens exist. Watch out there’s an alien about! (But probably a billion miles away). People: get real!
Jack
I agree with Jack. There are billions of stars like our sun so it is probable for planets, with life on them, to exist. Aliens might need different conditions to us anyway. Our galaxy is a pin prick in space so the chance of there being other forms of life is extremely high.
People have been wondering for years whether somewhere out there there is life waiting to be discovered. Some people think that it is all a big stupid theory. My opinion is that there is life still undiscovered on our planet such as animals and living plants, but we don’t know for sure that there is life outside earth. However, how can we be sure that there isn’t life outside ours when there’s so much more to be discovered? As our galaxy is one of hundreds of thousands in the universe and we are one of the smallest planets in our own galaxy, so much outside us has not been discovered and anything could be possible with how big space is!
