Once upon a time lived a boy called Danny Cam and Eugene Over. They didn’t know each other but trying to hunt them down was a guy called Killer Claws. Killer Claws was a criminal who had got out of prison two years ago but there was no way he was going back. The next morning, Danny Cam was walking down the road and bumped into Eugene Over. They said hi to each other but then they bumped into Killer Claws and they ran away. They decided to put their names together and made a name, CODE! Where’s Killer Claws?!!!!!!!!
Code can be used in a number of ways, such as sending an SOS via Morse code. The signalling system was developed in 1836 by the American artist Samuel Morse, the American physicist Joseph Henry, and Alfred Vail. It sent electrical pulses with intervals in between which stood for different letters of the alphabet. It could also be sent using long and short flashes of light from a torch. Ships used it most and it was the longest-lasting form of electrical messaging – about 160 years! Ships stopped using it in 1999 – they now use GPS satellite technology to send messages.

The country was at war and the code breakers thought that it would be easy to crack the code brought in by a pigeon as they were the best in the country. However, this was new to them and they had never seen anything like this before. .. “I need some air” Alex said and steeped outside.
He felt a knock to his head, and awoke to find a bright light shining in his eyes with a few men around him. ‘Tell us what the code says or your team will be harmed’ his captors said. Ben was angry.

Yann Markoza stepped out of the grey jeep with haste. He’d just blown up a heist truck. He strode into the lift and pressed a button which took him up to floor number three. In the room, a man was on a computer punching in some code on the worn keys. Yann brandished a small Makarov pistol and shot both guards. The man stopped and stood up. Shocked, he ran to the other door and dashed down the stairs into a room filled with guards. Yann followed him. Just then, Yann pulled out his gun and he pulled the black trigger.
Jack was walking down the road from school when he saw a piece of paper on the street.
It all started when his parents divorced. His mum took him with her and he had to join a new school. It was a cold, winter’s day and this note just appeared on the street. He picked it up. Then something hit him hard on his temple.
He woke up with a throbbing head surrounded by metal bars and a metal collar around his neck. He got up but something buzzed and he felt an electric current travel from his neck to his chest and feet. His body went limp.
“Give us the message of code and in return you shall live!” A voice rasped from outside the cage…
1234, was it less or was it more?
7896, the numbers are in a terrible mix.
There’s a massive chess board floor,
shall I go up the ladder or through the door?
I went across the chessboard floor, to the huge iron door,
which was encrusted with diamonds, emeralds and more.
1234, was it less or was it more?
7896, the numbers are in a terrible mix.
I was now in a house, which looked more like a gigantic mall,
with pale, yellow concrete walls,
1234 was it less or was it more?
7896, the numbers are in a terrible mix.
I had reached the room which told me the code,
the only problem was, it wasn’t a number, it was a word.
During the summer I visited the Imperial War Museum several times. The best exhibition I saw was called “Horrible Histories: Spies” which was all about the terrible tricks used by Second World War spies. These included using disguises, camouflage, sabotage and gadgets as well as cunning ways to crack and receive codes. Did you know that during the war the BBC broadcast messages between friends and families, but these were really specially chosen codes that passed information on to agents and resistance fighters? One message was received by SOE agent Harry Ree to tell him his wife had given birth!
A boy called Jo was addicted to video games. All the time Jo was on a computer. At school there was a new teacher, her lessons were coding, everyone didn’t like her!!! Jo didn’t like her either so he messed around and got detention. The next day he got detention again but this time the teacher got a needle and suddenly Jo was in a place that he has never seen before. So he explored to see where he was. At the end of the day he found a big screen then he realized where he was, in the computer!!!
Code can be lots of different things. One of these is programming code, which is used to tell computers and machines what to do. All computers and machines work entirely on 1s and 0s each key is a code of 8 1s and 0s. Another type of code is codes that are used for communication like morse and semaphore. Morse is a code that is made of dots and dashes there are lots of different ways of signalling in morse. Another code is semaphore that is your hands in different positions each meaning a different letter, number or punctuation mark.
I remember the day clearly now, I found a special code that was capable of giving eternal life; they had to be pure of heart and mind for it to work.
Many people didn’t believe, they thought it was a myth and several tried. I now realised that it was not a good idea, all my friends and family have died. I’ve seen many things wars come and go and tragic events. Sorry lad it will remain in a secret place hidden from people, for your good.
If only I could find the code to free me of this misery…..
The Hacker
I was alone in my bed thinking about the night I just had. It was action packed. I got up and loaded up my computer and ran the command prompt. The computer was slow as last night I had hacked the NSA computers, gathering all their files and used their programs to hack the white house. I had an agreement with a Russian spy for those files, he had agreed to pay me 75 billion dollars. I am catching a flight to Asia later today, I won’t say why in-case they get these files.
I am a hacker!
I’m Astrid, I live in Germany and am forced to support the Nazis, and this is all I have to say. As you have probably realized, I don’t choose to support the Nazis but this is war so I have no choice.
Today 7 bombs went off, which is a good sign, but one sign that is the exact opposite is that today on the radio it said that the English have an advanced hacking system so now they can hack into our amazing codes via people who put themselves before their country. I’ve got to go before someone sees.
One of the most famous places where code-breaking took place was in Bletchley Park, where the Government Code and Cypher School worked on breaking the Germans, Japanese and other enemies’ military codes. The German codes were important because they would communicate when they planned to attack. This helped the British army to prepare better which meant the Allies won the war in 1945. The most famous code broken was the Enigma. The people who worked at Enigma have now been honoured. Breaking Enigma didn’t just save military ships but helped save ones that brought food supplies to the UK, which improved rations.
I could hear my footsteps echoing through the dimly lit passage-way. I couldn’t stop. This time I had to make it. Their breath followed me down the hall, lingering at my ankles like a snake lingers at its prey. Keep going, one foot in front of the other, not letting them win like they had time and time again. Now it was time for the code. This was what always let me down, the uncertain pause where my trembling fingers hovered a little too long. It was that fraction of a second that postponed my destiny making it wait longer than it should.
I don’t know why I’m doing this, they threatened to kill my family if I didn’t help them. I’m seen as the best programmer in the world; I’ve been doing it since I was 3, now I’m 17. Most people call me a nerd though. I can do anything on computers and that’s why they forced me into this job, to blow up the White House. I’ve laid c4 around the area they’re all wired to my computer and I’ve disabled the security. It’s all up to them now
To blow up the White House.

CRASH!!!
The computer blew, knocking Mitch out. When he came to there was a cat standing over him. “Hello”, said the cat. “I’m from your computer. I’m also here to help your coding.” Mitch lay there, stunned. “Is your planet always this dark?” asked Scratch. “N-N-No” said Mitch. Scratch and Mitch walked outside. Everything was pitch black. Then a creature, a bit like a bird, was there. “The dimensions are crashing around us”, said the creature. “Take this secret manual to code your way through the challenges.” Their adventure had just begun!

Woohoo! Exciting story and great use of ‘however’ to start a sentence! *Conjunction Junction, what’s your function?*
Change your Username to ‘year 6’! not ‘year 5’!!

EVIL CODERS
By Louis
When £1,000,000 arrived, Carol had to admit to being a natural programmer.
she loved making computers do evil.
For example, when she was nine, her computer gave her an electric shock. Not a bad one, but she programmed the computer to over-heat and blow up.
But this task was off the scale. Although it frightened her, Carol knew she had to obey.
The note stated clearly,
DESTROY EARTH.
and so, her team had made 20 twelve foot robots to be activated with: DESTROY
Sweat pouring from her face, Carol typed it. And the robots did obey…
… and destroyed… themselves.
I remember the day clearly now, I found a special code that was capable of giving eternal life; they had to be pure of heart and mind for it to work.
