Whole School Newsletter Autumn 2025 Week 5

EP Highlights

Well done to Juliet (Y5), Maya and George (Y6) who have been selected to represent Camden at the London Youth Games because of their outstanding performances at the Cross Country event last week!

Thank you to all the parents who joined us in classes this morning for our first Stay & Play of the year. We hope that you enjoyed it and took away ideas for some maths games to play together at home.

Year 6 have just returned from a wonderful week in Wick Court Farm, with so many farming stories and experiences to share. This brilliantly brings their geography-led topic this term, Farm to Fork, to life.

Black History Month

This week in our assemblies we talked about Black History Month. We looked at our wonderful skin, how each of us is different and how we are all strong and beautiful. We explored how people might share similar heritage, culture and identity, and how important it is for all of us to respect and learn about these differences, as well as to find out about our similarities. All year round through our curriculum we learn about significant Black figures within our shared British and World history, alongside people of all races and cultures. However, it is in October that we highlight the many achievements of Black British people through time.

You might want to talk to your child about their own identity, heritage and culture. Here are some ideas of what you might say or ask:

  • Your skin is beautiful! What colours do you see in it? Isn’t it amazing how different we all look? What’s the same and what’s different about your skin/eyes/hair and mine?
  • What do you already know about our family culture/heritage? What or whom would you like to know more about?

  • What do you know about Black history? Is there anything you’d like to know more about?

Of course not all of these questions will be appropriate for all ages or all circumstances so please keep in mind this is for you to judge - you know them best! As ever, we welcome ideas and guest speakers from our local community - do get in touch if you would like to contribute to our learning.

One of the huge highlights will be classes joining a live streamed assembly which includes former pupil, and BAFTA winner Jeriah Kibusi, alongside, Gemma Hunt – BAFTA-nominated CBBC presenter and Dr Krish Kandiah OBE – award-winning author and speaker on diversity and inclusion.

Camden Libraries are also celebrating Black History Season across half-term .Full details, including booking information, can be found on Love Camden.

As always, today’s newsletter includes some key dates. For everything else, please continue to check the School Calendar

Best wishes,
Natalie and Sally

Arbor and Club EP bookings

Bookings for Club EP (after half-term) will open on Saturday 11th October at 9:30am. We have 45 places available each day after school, but demand is usually higher than availability—particularly midweek. As the club is designed primarily to support working parents, please only book sessions where childcare is essential.

All bookings must be made through Arbor, so please make sure that your account is set up in advance. Only dates with available places will be displayed; if a date does not appear, it means the club is already full on that day.

If you need to cancel a booking, this cannot be done via the app. Instead, please contact the office before midday on the day of your booking (preferably sooner) so we can release the place to another family.

Class Trips

A reminder to families that we request a voluntary contribution to help fund the many wonderful trips your children enjoy at EP throughout the year. While contributions are voluntary, we hope that most families will feel able to offer support. Your contributions help us cover the cost of all workshops, museums, speakers and outings that bring learning to life, and help us keep the core budget for essentials.  The payment option is unfortunately tucked away within Arbor, please navigate to Trips and then Class Trips 2025-26 to make payment. Thank you
