Keeping it EP this Week

Reception visited London Zoo to inform their Under the Sea topic - they found the grumpiest fish, counted the penguins and went to visit the tortoises (all of which are turtles, but not all turtles are tortoises!). Back in class they screenprinted beautiful Save the Turtles posters.

Our Year 3 and 4 Football Squad showed brilliant teamwork and resilience in their matches on Wednesday, but were unlucky with goals. Sadly out of the competition, but we have high hopes for next year!

So many bright and varied designs to choose from in our Summer Fair poster competition, but we have a winner! Congratulations to Kamilla for her vibrant, summer-themed artwork that our sponsor Martyn Gerrard will print into a beautiful poster to promote our fair on Saturday 4th July

  • Contact businesses/employers – requests by children are very effective - write to employers, contractors or businesses to ask for support. Many companies know the benefits of corporate social responsibility for their business and are happy to contribute. In past years we have raised an extra £1-2k by reaching out this way!
  • Can your company can Match Fund or sponsor the event - ask in the office for more information on match funding if needed

EP Cookbook Recipe

Teoman’s Anneanne (Grandma) has been making this recipe for years.  it’s delicious, easy to make and a crowd pleaser!

Menemen (Turkish scrambled eggs)

 Serves:  4 people

Prep: 10 minutes

Cooking: 15 minutes

 Ingredients:

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons butter

1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)

3 tomatoes, chopped

1 green pepper, finely chopped

3-4 eggs (depending on size)

Salt, black pepper, and crushed chilies (to taste)

Parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Method

  1.     Melt the butter with the olive oil in a pan.  Then fry the onion (if using) and green pepper in the oil until softened.
  2.     Add the tomatoes and cook for 4–5 minutes.
  3.     Whisk the eggs in a bowl and then add them to the vegetables in the pan.

Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring gently, until the eggs are cooked through.

  1.     Add the salt, black pepper, and crushed chilies to taste.
  2. Sprinkle the chopped parsley on top.

Serving suggestion: Crusty bread for mopping up the juices!

We still need more recipes, so please submit your recipe using the EP Cookbook form here (nothing copyrighted please).
