World Book Day
What a wonderful celebration of books and reading! It was joyous to see the children in their costumes and there were some fantastic potato characters too - thank you to families for supporting the day. Seeing so many different costumes reminds us of the multitude of stories there are for children to discover and enjoy.
Green Dragons’ Den update! Our Year 5 eco-preneurs secured an investment of £500 towards their Eco-Club. Brilliant planning, pitching and presentations from our amazing team.
Plenty of musical moments across the week as Early Years went to Netley School to join The Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment - listening and singing their song about Mozart’s cat. Then Year 1 and 2 visited Acland Burghley today for more choral joy with the OAE.
Two-wheeled fun for Year 3, who developed cycling skills and learned about road safety with Bikeability.
With the arrival of spring, our gardening group improvised some overalls, before getting to work sanding and then painting the first coat on the homemade benches and table. Blooming marvellous work!
Best wishes to all of our families who celebrated Holi this week - we hope it was full of happiness and colour

Information and Diary Dates
The Great Egg-Race!
The annual EP Great Egg Race will be 24 years old this year! For those new to EP, this is an end of the Spring Term tradition when children build a vehicle to carry a hard-boiled egg to race the length of the hall. It is a definite highlight of the EP year! Full rules of the race are in the office.
Families are welcome to come along to watch - race times are as follows:
Nursery, Years 1, 3 and 5 race at 9.15am and Reception, 2, 4 and 6 at approximately 10.45am; however, we can’t be exact!
There is an adult race in the afternoon so you can get involved too!
Primary Engineers Leaders’ Award
More inventive and ingenious ideas needed for the Primary Engineer Leaders’ Award 2026, a national competition with around 48,000 entrants each year.
Children are invited to answer the question: ‘If you were an engineer, what would you do?’. They must design a solution to a real problem.
To enter:
- Draw and label the invention with your name, year group and invention name on the back.
- Write a persuasive pitch letter on a separate sheet, in best handwriting or typed and with spellings checked
We’ve had lots of regional winners in the past, with designs displayed and awarded at Kingston University.
Entries to Craig in Year 1 by Monday 16 March.
