Whole School Newsletter 2nd October 2026

Year 6 return today from their amazing 5 day residential trip to Wick Court, a working organic farm in Gloucestershire where they have stayed in a beautiful Elizabethan manor house. Working hands-on as farmers, caring for the animals, harvesting and preparing food from this produce, they’ve gained understanding of nature, agriculture and food origins. And in addition to this wonderfully immersive learning experience, they have spent many hours laughing and playing together!

As part of their topic Around the World, Year 2 have been learning about Asia and enjoyed an Indian cookery workshop, making delicious daal, chapati, rice and Indian sweets.

Children in Year 4 rocked out with WeJam - choosing tracks to play along to on keyboards and drumpads. Much noise was made and fun had!

Our new art teacher Alix worked with Year 5 to create relief tiles of rainforest plants linking to this term’s topic - the children were rightly proud of these bright, bold, stunning compositions!

Thank you to everyone who joined Stay & Play today. We love seeing the confidence that playing games with maths builds, and they are a great way to encourage engagement and enjoyment of number!

Best wishes,
Natalie and Sally

Info and News

Black History Month

The theme for Black History Month 2026 is ‘Honouring our Communities’. Children will be learning about influential Black Britons including Claudia Jones, Lord Learie Constantine, Olaudah Equiano, Mary Prince, Bernie Grant and Eniola Aluko through a mixture of assemblies, lessons in class, reading and online speakers. Love Camden Black History season

Road Safety

We know that parents have been thinking a lot about road safety and we wanted to share how this is thought about and taught at EP. Road safety forms part of each year group’s PSHE taught curriculum from Reception upwards. We have an assembly on road safety each term, with a focus this term in November to align with Road Safety Week (15th-21st November). Road safety is built into every trip briefing for classes and road crossing procedures form part of the advance risk assessment for every trip.

There are lots of useful resources around road safety with some links shared below. For younger children it is great to model and talk through road crossing whilst out and about, identifying where it is safe to cross the road and using the Stop, Look & Listen Green Cross Code. As days grow shorter, bright clothing helps children to be seen, and reflective strips and patches within clothing or added-on are a good idea.

Be Bright Be Seen

Wear Red Day - Friday 16th October

On Friday 16th October, we will be joining schools and organisations across the country for Wear Red Day, organised by Show Racism the Red Card. The day is an opportunity to come together and show our support for anti-racism, equality and inclusion. We would love all children (and staff!) to wear something red to school on the day - this could be anything from a pair of red socks or a red hairband, right through to a completely red outfit! There is absolutely no need to buy anything especially for the day; anything red you already have at home will be perfect. We hope to see EP looking wonderfully red as we stand together to show that racism has no place in our school or community.

Play Shed Donations

We have a playshed in our Infant playground which is rather depleted. Donations of Duplo and building blocks would be greatly appreciated.

Nasal Flu Vaccine

The vaccination team are in school on Wednesday 21st October to administer the nasal flu vaccine. This is offered to all children in Reception to Year 6, but unfortunately not to Nursery children who are covered by the health visiting team at your GP. The flu vaccine is a quick, painless vaccine administered up the nostril. The vaccine contains pork gelatine, but an injectable form of the vaccine that is gelatine-free is also offered. The vaccination team will shortly email and text parents and carers directly with consent forms. Please use this link to either consent or decline the vaccine, whilst your child will not be given a vaccine without your consent, it is useful for the service to keep record of how many families are aware of the vaccination offer.

Junior Dance Auditions for Years 4-6

Junior Dance Company are a fantastic local dance group run by Acland Burghley Dance Department. Their classes are every Tuesday 3:45-4:45 at Burghley. Many EP children past and present have joined the dance company and love taking part. The group also have opportunities to take part in wider Camden performances in local theatres.

Auditions to join the dance company take place next Tuesday 6th October - please sign up here to audition. Children do not need to have been to dance classes before to come along and have a go.

Lost Property

We have already accumulated a mountain of lost property so early in the term. This is located in the entrance of Juniors. We end up disposing of lots of items each half term, but can return to the owner if named. Please name children’s clothes - written simply in pen on the label is fine. If you choose stick-on or iron-on labels, this company gives a donation to school for every purchase https://www.mynametags.com/ Simply quote school ID 2868 at checkout. The stickers are dishwasher safe, so perfect for all those lost tupperware and water bottles too!
