EP Highlights

Another big week for sport at EP, with lots of medals for our cross-country team today and some wonderfully positive stories of the teamwork, encouragement and support shown by all our runners - well done! That same team spirit was on show yesterday when we welcomed pupils from Winton Primary School to EP for football matches against our KS2 teams, with our players working brilliantly together and representing the school with real pride.

This week we were fortunate to be visited by volunteers from Standard Life who, through Employee Volunteering, spent the day helping us with a whole range of tasks across the school site. They did a spectacular job clearing out the allotment area, putting together a new potting bench for the greenhouse, cleaning pots and mulching beds. They turned our compost bays and used the fresh compost to fill planters on our KS2 playground which are now painted in beautiful pastel colours and filled with a range of herbs! Thank you to everyone who came along to ‘Meet the Heads’ and/or the Foundation Stage Party this week. We have really enjoyed having the opportunity to get to know our new children and families a little better, and it was lovely to see so many of you there as we continue to welcome everyone into the EP community.

Connections are strengthened between children across the school by Upper Juniors buddying with Reception and Year 1 children - wonderful for supporting transitions, building security, fostering responsibility and social learning. It has been a joy to see the start of these special partnerships this week.

Next week two trainee teachers began their placements with us - Nell Coker in Reception and Shaunna Collins in Y1 - they are studying for their PGCEs with UCL’s IOE and will be learning alongside our staff until February half-term and are very welcome to Team EP. Many of our current staff came through this teacher training route and we’re fortunate to have such enthusiastic trainees working with us.
