Keeping it EP this week…

Yesterday, our Eleanor Palmer Choir had the pleasure of performing at Hawley Wharf, alongside pupils from our partnership school, Hawley Primary. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to sing together and celebrate our strong links.

With 2 inter-school sport competitions this week and more next, every Junior child has had opportunity to play competitive sport and represent EP this term. Some competitions are at neighbouring schools or sports centres, and to support inclusion we are building more events at EP through our competitive lunchtime programme. In addition to strengthening collaboration, cohesion and a sense of belonging, learning to navigate the ups and downs of competition supports stable self-esteem and resilience.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Winter Fair last Friday. Anyone who has hosted a children’s party knows the work involved, so an event for 236 children, plus family and friends, takes a huge amount or organisation and energy! Special thanks to the PTA who lead on this - Andrea, Ben, Francis and treasurer Lucy - with fantastic support from so many others, too many to thank here by name. The fundraising totals await the ending of the Winter Auction on Monday 15th at 8pm. Do take a look at the 90 items to bid on through this link.

Winter Concert 2:30pm Monday 15th December

We look forward to welcoming you to our Winter Concert next Monday at Acland Burghley School.

The children’s rehearsals sound lovely and we are all set for a wonderfully uplifting occasion! We just wanted to share a few logistics and reminders:

  • Nursery and Reception children – please wear white (or light) tops. If they have light coloured bottoms too then this is ideal, but definitely not essential.
  • Year 1-6 children– please wear red, green, black tops. No antlers etc. please as these can block out children seated behind.
  • With so many gathering together in Burghley’s hall it gets very warm. Please avoid too many layers or thick jumpers.
  • Acland Burghley gates will be open to parents from 2:20pm and EP staff will be there to direct you to the school hall.
  • There is plenty of seating, but if these fill up there is standing space at the back - please keep the aisles free.
  • Please leave buggies outside the hall. Little ones are welcome on knees.
  • We know that families will want to take photos, but please do so with consideration to blocking the view of others.
  • Please do not share photos or films on social media (including Whatsapp). We have many children whose parents/carers have requested that images of their children are not shared.
  • After the concert, children will return to EP and cannot be collected at Acland Burghley. We will walk children swiftly back to EP for the usual pick-up process.
  • End of day pick up will be from EP, but likely at a later time of 3:45pm.

Club EP will be running as usual. If you intend to come along to the concert and no longer need your space at the club, please let Migena Migena@eleanorpalmer.camden.sch.uk know so that we can offer places elsewhere.

Sunday 21 December at 6 pm: Christmas Lessons & Carols at St Benet's

Our friends in the Home Zone committee are joining together with St. Benet’s church (opposite EP) for carol singing. They have extended the invitation below to those who may like to join them. ‘We're coming together as one community in St Benet's to listen to readings and raise the roof with carol singing. This joyful occasion is for everyone and no previous experience of singing carols is required! We can't wait to see you all.

Fr Guy would welcome contributions to the refreshments afterwards (eg mulled wine/soft drinks and mince pies). He would also appreciate any donations, especially to the St Benet's Organ Appeal which, after working hard for 34 years, has packed up!’.

Mario the Maker Magician

As an alternative to panto, we’ve heard fantastic things about this magic show running until mid January. Information linked
