The Grand Canyon – valleys and erosion

Year 2 visited North America this week, as part of their ‘Round the World’ topic.  In science we looked at the formation of the Grand Canyon and how water eroded the rock over billions of  years.  In groups we talked about different types of rock and how water cuts through valleys.  We then made valleys and did a gallery walk of our work. The children talked about features of the different valleys and about which materials they felt would erode more.
