Year 6 have been learning all about the amazing life of Walter Tull – a talented professional footballer and the first black officer to lead white British soldiers into battle in World War One.

Incredibly, Phil Vasili (Walter Tull’s biographer) lives in the local area and kindly agreed to come in and talk to the class! We discussed the life and legacy of Walter Tull and explored different books and artefacts linked with his fascinating story. Phil even showed us a replica of the sort of ball Walter would have used during his time playing for Tottenham Hotspurs.

We are working hard to publish our own biographies and make sure more people hear about this amazing man.
