On a very hot day, Year 6 descended upon the Heath to learn how to read maps and then use them to navigate our way around! We built our own maps to understand how the contours on a map show height and we looked at how to read a key and use that to find your way. The children also learnt how to use a compass and work out a places position in degrees from North. In the afternoon, we split into teams and went off in search of the 12 orienteering posts – some were really hard to find! It was a great day – thank you to Hampstead Heath Education Centre for having us!
