Last week, Year 5 ventured outside of London for a trip to Hatfield House in Hertfordshire – an E.P. first! After the long train journey we had time for lunch and a play in the House’s estate. Then, we were led into the Old Palace where we met a member of Henry VIII’s guard. He showed us different weapons and explained some of the history of his office. Then, a lovely guide showed us around the old palace before introducing us to Catherine Parr (the King’s wife) and the King’s musician. They prepared us for our meeting with Henry before leading us into the Main Hall. There we met him – King Henry VIII! It was such a fantastic day, and thank you so much to all of the adults who came with us and made it a very special trip!
