We all had a fantastic time at the Camden Archives in Friday, looking in depth at our school and its local surroundings during the Victorian times. Many children even managed to discover who had lived in their homes during the 1800s. We looked at maps dating from the 1860s, pictures of Kentish Town High Street (the ships back then couldn’t have been more different to nowadays!) and old books. We found Queen Victoria’s family tree in a book which was published in the 1880s. The children really enjoyed looking at old censuses and directories on microfilms to find out about the school and their homes. The archives very kindly gave us some old maps so do come and have a look at them if you are interested in them!
