Year 3 visited the Ragged school in Mile End a few weeks ago. We have been learning about Thomas Barnardo and all the great work he did for the poor children of London and this was his school that he set up!
We dressed as poor Victorian children, which drew a lot of funny looks on the tube! Our Victorian teacher, Miss Perkins, was terrifying and taught us how to write with Copperplate handwriting before we recited Victorian rhymes.
Miss Perkins asked for volunteers to try out the dunce’s hat and even a back straightener! We were very brave and tested both!
