Year 3 had a fantastic trip to Hampstead Heath to find out more about soil. Our guides, Mark and Olivia, showed us how the ponds have been damned and how there are different kinds of soil depending on location. They challenged us to find the best soil to make a dam out of bagshot sand, humus and clay. Using their science skills Year 3 found that clay was the most suitable because it was impermeable and malleable.
