BAFTA kindly offered us tickets for four amazing workshops on Saturday – so we leapt at the opportunity!
First, the narrator of Horrid Henry (Lizzie Waterworth-Santo) taught us all about the skills needed for voiceover work. We brought our own character drawings and created voices for them!
Next, we learnt all about animation with the producers of Ardmann Studios (who produced Sean the Sheep). We found out about different creative challenges and visual styles.
In the afternoon, the amazing team behind ‘Jamie Johnson’ filmed a scene in front of us, showing us all the decisions around script, directing, performance and editing. Boggie was there and he was really funny!
Lastly, we learnt all about how news is produced for children with the teams behind Sky News FYI and Newsround. It was amazing! Newsround presenter De-Graft Mensah was there and we even got to have our photo taken with him, and also Scarlett from Sky News FYI who told us how she became a young presenter.
Year 5 asked really thoughtful questions and we were so impressed with their enthusiasm and focus. I think the day might have inspired a few budding actors, presenters and producers! Thanks BAFTA!
