Year 2 visited the Camden Archives today and discovered so many fascinating facts about Victorian Camden!
We all became historians by examining various sources relating to four key areas –
- Eleanor Palmer since the Victorian era
- The Victorian census of 1891
- Charles Dickens
- The Victorian high street
The children drew and noted down anything of interest. We found out that Eleanor Palmer used to be a boys school – can you believe it?!
Some people even managed to find out who lived in their house in 1891! Amazing!
At the end, we also got a sneaky peak of the library’s storage rooms. The smell of the old books really excited the children as they explored the many rows of shelving.
Such a great day out, deepening our historical understanding of this time in British history.
