At the start of the week, we braved the rain on our trip to Hampstead Heath to take part in a ‘Mad about Maps’ workshop. It was so great to get some hands on experience of using maps to navigate our way around the heath.
Firstly, the children looked at a map of the Secret Garden and located its landmarks. They then had fun hiding some ‘treasure’ and plotting locations on their own map for others to find. Luckily, the sunshine came out to warm us up. We had fun playing a compass game to practice recalling our cardinal directions, and also ventured out onto the heath to use our map skills to find the ponds. It was a great day out!
