Our history-led topic this term is The Victorians. In English, we are reading ‘Daisy Saves the Day’ by Shirley Hughes, which is about a young girl who moves to London to become a live-in scullery made. We will be writing a diary entry as Daisy, so we decided to see what the daily jobs of a scullery made involve.
Props were laid on tables to represent the different rooms of the house. The children had to work around the rooms and act out the different jobs for 5 minutes straight. They were very happy to get to the bedroom table, where they could lie down and have a rest. Back breaking work!
