Wow – what a day we had exploring the wonderful historic seaside town of Folkestone. I’m still beaming at seeing all the children enjoy themselves so much, and the fact that we had a whole train carriage reserves for us! A perfect place to bring together our Victorians and invertebrates topic learning.
We took part in a Victorian workshop at the lovely Folkestone Museum where we examined lots of historic artefacts to help us piece together different folk from this era. Then we made our way through the cobbled stone-covered ‘creative quarter,’ which was actually Charles Dickens favourite street here! It was so fantastic to see the children’s reaction when we finally reached the harbour and sandy beaches. We have fun searching for evidence of molluscs and of course taking a well needed dip in the cool sea.
Such an amazing place to visit and a really memorable day for the children.
