Year 4 had a brilliant day out in Londinium! We visited the Museum of London in the morning, where we gathered lots of facts about what our city was like almost 2,000 years ago, and sketched some of the fascinating artefacts they have on display there.
After lunch, we walked the short distance through the present-day City of London to the Guildhall Art Gallery. After descending 6 metres, we were transported back into the amphitheatre that was only discovered 30 years ago by archaeologists! Andrew, our expert guide, explained how archaeologists had carefully uncovered the ruins of this colossal building and answered all of our questions. We were then allowed to handle some objects from Roman times, including a beautiful pot fragment with Hercules depicted on it!
