Ancient Egyptian beliefs on life after death

The class learnt about Egyptian tombs, pyramids and burial sites. To help us remember the key vocabulary we developed movement prompts.

Through Drama we learnt about the process of mummification. We acted out the sequence – creating clear steps.

We then wrote the instructions for mummification.

We used our instructions to mummify Barbie dolls and Action Men! We went through each step – using our imagination (and a camping peg!!) to pull the brains out of the nose and to cut the body and remove the internal organs!!

We then made a sarcophagus for each mummy. These have been displayed in the classroom!

During Science we started our whole-class ‘mummify a sausage’ experiment. It will take several weeks to complete!
