We had a fun, jam-packed day at London Zoo. We met so many animals; gorillas, tigers, colobus monkeys, penguins, tortoises, giraffes and zebras, to name a few! We were delighted to meet sloths, which we have been reading about in our class text ‘Sloth Slept On’.
We took part in a workshop called ‘Hands On’. Children identified three groups of animals (mammals, birds and reptiles), they observed animal skin coverings and described how they looked and felt.
We left full of questions about why some of the animals we met are endangered. In English, Year 1 will be writing to persuade their lovely parents to adopt one of the animals we met – stay tuned!
