In 2010, we made links with Planting Promise, a very special school in Freetown, Sierra Leone, the second poorest country in the world. The Ebola crisis has devastated the country and we feel compelled to take action at this critical time. Planting Promise are choosing to continue to pay their farm workers and school staff: the knock on from companies pulling out /going bankrupt is already widespread and behind the Ebola crisis is a bigger one of the country losing all itsinvestment, confidence and peace. £30 pays a farmworker for a month; £60 pays a teacher’s wages for a month.
Rocco Falconer leads Planting Promise and here is his response to our question ‘ So what is it like on the ground?’ Planting Promise 16 10 14
So far we have reached the target we set a month ago to raise £1000, but will keep fundraising as the continuing need is clear. Rocco from Planting Promise has sent us this update Planting Promise Update 06 11 14
