To kick off our new science topic, light, we have been exploring jelly….we know regular jelly is delicious and wobbly but not much to do with light. However when mixed with a secret ingredient it can glow under UV light!

Given a range of ingredients children selected one to mix with their jelly and gave a reason as to why it might be the special ingredient. We had fabulous ideas like, coke because it is bubbly, or oil because it is yellow like the sun, milk because it is the brightest white colour.

After the weekend we tested our jelly’s in our blackout tent….

…the secret ingredient was tonic water!!
