| There was lots of excitement in Reception as we had our first whole class trip to the science lab to explore floating and sinking. We made predictions about certain citrus fruit that we thought may sink or float. Lots of us thought that the orange would sink and the lime would float but we were wrong. We learnt floating was not to do with weight as we first thought, as we realised that boats weigh a lot and they float and a penny coin is not very heavy and it sinks. We learnt a tricky word – buoyancy – and learnt floating and sinking is to do with particles! What grown up science!! |
