3rd October is National Poetry Day and the organisers of it have chosen a theme of ‘water’. If you have written a water poem for your homework, post it as a comment and we can create an online anthology! Visit the Poetry Society website for more information
Water
Water, water, water everywhere,
Never a glimpse of land,
Never a glimpse of land.
Waves, waves, waves everywhere
Bad weather is bad,
Bad weather is bad.
Sharks, sharks, sharks everywhere,
Never a place to hide,
Never a place to hide.
Cold, cold, cold everywhere,
I am chilled to the bone,
I am chilled to the bone.
If you’re out there,
You might not survive….!
Water, Water Everywhere
All I see is water.
The crashing of the waves.
Someone, please help.
The storm has died down.
I see land!
It may be France?
Or Scotland.
I’m back hey!
Amy
I am on a desert island, there’s nothing to eat,
And I’m finding it hard to keep up on my feet.
I think about my friend and my family,
And I wonder if they’re thinking about me.
I was standing on the beach,
The waves lapping, licking at my feet,
I just wish there was someone that I could meet.
Looping dolphins in the waves,
I wish I could swim in their cave.
THE END
water can be cold
water can be hot
it could knock down a sand castle
or maybe not
water can be rough
water can be smooth
you don’t know until you
try to move
water can be good
water can be bad
if you drown from it
you will be sad
SPLASH, by Maddy
Splish, splash, splosh, I’m in the pool
It’s hot outside but in the pool it’s cool
Ouch! That’s my brother Jack
He’s on the attack!
He’s pushed me into the sea
I dive down into the deep
The fish beneath I seek
Splish, splash I’m now in the bath
I’m trying not to laugh
Jack has slipped on the wet floor
We’re not on holiday any more
Drip drop that’s the rain
I wish I was in that pool again!
Wow, fabulous poems already Year 4! I think Alice has been inspired by our class novel, Kensuke’s Kingdom. What do you think?
Mr G
water everywhere
I can see water around
water surrounding me
the only thing I see is water
The Waterpark
Down the slide dark and screaming
Water pushing me down
spinning me around
Heading for the end
Wave machine pushing me back and forth
Back and forth
Head down salty waves
dancing like a ballerina
Boomerang fast cold slippery like ice
people clack clacking up the stairs
me whoosh whooshing
back and forth back and forth
How come only some water comes from watermelon?
I used to think that all water came from watermelons
But only some water comes from watermelons
There’s water in a cup of tea
And water in the tall wide sea
There’s even water inside me
There is not a pool or a waterfall
Full of orange juice!
water is a part of you it’s everywhere it’s everything,
you need to blink and then you can drink.
you need to pee to get out that wee.
go to the sea to see him swim.
oh sometimes you will quiver in the river.
oh its silver in the snow so the dodo can blow.
oh the icicle can fall on the bicycle
thats why its water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stranded, stranded on an island,
The waters tide fatly rises,
Lonely and sad the boy sits in a ball,
Tears wet his hands, and the tide starts to crawl around him,
“Help”, he cries, but no-one, no-one replies
The gentle criss-cross of its hair
Fish swimming in its lair
A breath-taking sight of a passing wave
It doesn’t matter how it behaves.
Its sounds are a gentle lullaby
Singing in my ear so high
A breath-taking sight of a passing wave
I doesn’t matter how it behaves.
A yacht sailing beside a gentle breeze
Up aboard are sights to please
A breath-taking sight of a passing wave
It doesn’t matter how it behaves.
