Things to include:
– Describe what happened at in your favourite moment of the play.
– Say which characters were involved and what they said.
– Describe the atmosphere and emotions e.g. ‘It was a very tense part of the play because…’ or ‘It was a terribly tragic part of the play because…’
– Describe how the audience reacted e.g ‘I could hear the audience gasping with shock.’
This is instead of your 100 Word Challenge this week so you could make it about the same length.
My favourite moment of the play was the apothecary scene. The apothecary’s were singing a song to convince sister Josephine and sister Lauren to buy the potion. We were
deciding if we should risk it .
It was a cheery and funny part of the play, especially
when they said odd things like your skin is softer than a little baby’s bum.
The audience laughed with enjoyment.
One of my favourite parts in Romeo and Juliet was the fight scene because it was one of the most important parts of the play and all of the crowd reacted to it a lot. It was possibly the part of the play where the audience reacted the most! And I loved it!!! My second favourite bit was where I was rapping about Tybalt being in an awful mood and the look of his face when I said that was extremely funny. One of the funniest scenes was where I rapped:
‘Hold up hold up,
Married already,
They have only just met,
They should be more steady…’
With those few lines, the entire audience erupted with laughter! I have no idea why but they did and it made my day!
I enjoyed all of it. I liked dressing up and sword fighting.
Freya play rewiew
Romeo and Juliet play review; interview With my sister Natasha about what she thought of
our play.
Q1. Which performance did you prefer and why?
A. I think that the evening performance was better than the afternoon performance because they had already done it once and they had a much more understanding audience.
Q2. What was your favourite scene and why did you like it?
A. Well actually that’s quite hard because I like all the scenes but I think my favourite scene was the one in which the apothecaries gave the poison to Romeo. It was a really hard scene to act and they did it really well!!!
Q3. What did you think of the story?
A. It was a sad story but I liked it.
Q4. Which character/actor did you think gave the best performance?
A. You ( well she is my sister what can I say!!! )
Q5. Out of ten what mark would you give the play?
A.1000 out of 10 because it was really amazing and enjoyable …….great acting!
Great, thank you Natasha for such a gleaming review!
My favourite moment in the play was the fight scene, because the actors doing that scene didn’t forget their lines and their acting all together was excellent and believable. Mercutio died which looked real, and the same when Tybalt was killed. Tybalt, Samson, Romeo, Mercutio, Benvolio, Josh and Harry were involved. It was very tragic because two people died. The audience thought it was sad and realistic. I know because they Gasped [sad part], and then I heard some people saying it was realistic.
My favorite part of the play was when I died as Tybalt because it is so dramatic. It is the scene where Mercutio and I fight then Mercutio dies then Romeo and I fight and I die. The audience were horrified when we died. I enjoyed having all that tension and have been around enough theaters to know what a good production is and Romeo and Juliet by year 5 certainly is one; I was very lucky to be a part of it – thank you!
My favourite part of Romeo and Juliet was the War song at the end of the play, after Romeo and Juliet had died. Everyone took part in it from both the Capulet and Montague families. It showed that war ends up with people dead and everyone else unhappy. The audience recognised the song and sang and clapped along. The song made everyone feel strong and united.
My favourite part was when Mercutio started to fight with Tybalt and said ” come sir”. I thought that was acted really well. Also the songs were fantastic, especially the apothecary song. My mum says she “really loved the 80’s vibe in all the songs”. I thought it was sad when Louis died yet the audience was laughing, which just goes to prove that sometimes comedy and tragedy are very close!!!
Jude’s Review of Romeo and Juliet Play
My favourite part in the play was the fight scene between Tybalt and Mercutio. Jimi played Tybalt and Lee played Mercutio. They both played their roles very well. I especially liked it when Mercutio is dying and Lee says to Eugene who plays Romeo “A plague on both your houses” I heard my dad gasp “nnnnnooooooo” in the audience. I really enjoyed being a Romeo Rapper yo. I love how Miss Stevenson made a modern day twist to an old style play. Joey stole the show with the apothecary song! Big up Joey!
This is such a lovely comment Jude, I’m glad you loved the play so much. Miss Stevenson did a great job with her scriptwriting didn’t she?
My favorite part in the play was the bit where I (Count Paris) died… I really like the dramatics and the emotional bit before where I walk on and realize Juliet is dead and put the candle beside her and pray…. I loved really SPITTING out the words at Romeo. I found this scene very moving and the audience seemed to really be taken aback (over-looking the boy in reception who said “YAY” when I died 🙁 . GRRRR…) The bit at the end of the scene where I fall and call out “oh, I am slain!!” I feel this line really suits my character – like he’s announcing his own death and is stating the obvious with self-importance. I really enjoyed our play and I could have done it 10 more times over!!
My best bit was when Romeo cried a curse upon me and the apothecaries chimed in, ‘did someone say apothecaries?’That got a big laugh from the audience and it was very funny when Joey, Myron and Archie sang the fantastic but very funny ‘apothecary song’. The death of Tybalt was very sad and also tense because it was very realistic and had a lot of atmosphere to it aswell as the thought of what’s going to happen next? The scene of Thomas saying ‘get thee to church or never after look me in the face again!’ This was extremely scary and shocking.
Great reviews of a great play, well done Year 5 for putting on such a great production. You made me a proud TA! Love from Eve x
