When I went away on holiday this half term, I thought there would be a hurricane last Sunday night and we had to get candles and torches ready in case we had a power cut. We went out walking in the woods and onto their trampoline in the gales earlier in the day and it was really exciting. Malachy was scared that there was a tornado coming because he saw leaves swirling in the wind but we told him there aren’t tornadoes in this country, only hurricanes sometimes. But after all that, there wasn’t one, just very high winds. There were a few trees down at my grandparents house and the telephone was out of order. My mum told me about the hurricane in 1987 when her bedroom window shattered all over her bed in the night!
