We were lucky enough to be visited by Scarlett’s granny, who shared her experiences as a child witnessing World War Two.
What did you find out?
Did anything surprise or shock you?
How did her talk link to anything we’ve already learnt about World War Two?
I immensly enjoyed the visit from Scarlett’s granny to tell us about her experience in WW2! Amazingly, she managed to remember so much – this really helped me understand what it must’ve been like.
I learnt about lots of different things – to highlight a couple, families didn’t even know where their children were being evacuated to, and that her mother took Scarlett’s granny and her sisters back to their house in London…
I was surprised that not only were there food ration books, there were clothes ration books as well!90
Thanks Scarlett, her dad and her granny for this wonderful talk!
I can’t believe it’s come to this. I was walking home from the pub one night, glancing vaguely at the war posters all around me, when I heard muffled voices from a side alley I was passing. Nazis. I could hear their voices, speaking softly in German. Slowly, silently, I pulled out my tape recorder. I caught almost every word of their conversation. Quickly I got up, thinking how the BEF would pay nicely for this information, when I made a fatal blunder. I tripped. Falling through the air, I heard footsteps behind me. “You’re in big trouble, Eye Witness…”
