The Running
We’re looking for them
For a not so scary scare
If they’re in our view
They’re running to scare
And we’re trying not to stare
But it is so hard
We’re making a deal
For a very big reveal
On a dangerous case
They’re looking for us
Cause’ we didn’t pay enough
For our hefty deal
We’re running away
Cause’ it’s very hard to stay
Their a scary lot
They’re ranting around
So hopefully we’re not found
In our secret place
We’re too scared to go
But just before you shall go
Know …
we are just kids
Running
We were running, running, as fast as we could. Up hill, tireder and tireder we got. No break could revive us. The pursuer was catching up, getting nearer and nearer. “Run, run, RUN!!!”, was my only form of possible encouragement. As we spluttered up the hill, the seemingly never-ending hill, one of us stumbled, fallen down on their face and began to bleed. We all stooped to ensure they were OK, but time was running short, and they were seriously injured. Staring with wide eyes, we threw them into the bush. Hastily running on, we ducked behind there too.
We waited in suspense for the horn to blow, silence filled the air, everyone stood ready to go and then the silence left and we all started running fighting to get to the front barging into each other as we run the first lap. But, soon it cleared out everyone in the front or the back of the massive hill and a huge space in the middle. but, for some people it wasn’t so easy because at the front it was still hustle and bustle, and as you hear the people finish it makes you proud to see your friends.
They ran. Faster than the wind, they ran. The creatures lapping at their heels, the cold wind whipping their faces. The darkness covered them, like a hood. Their faces rigid with terror, they ran. Their feet squelched in the mud beneath them. Their eyes were wet from crying, but they still ran. The endless abyss of mazes and trees carried on way after the horizon. You could here the clatter of the starving creatures behind them. You could hear the screams of them as their feet collided with the tough dips beneath them. They ran and ran and ran and ran.
They ran!
They ran for their lives from the creatures in the mist. The creatures came from the trees and would jump down onto them and eat them alive. One of the creatures leapt on somebody, biting at him. The person next to him whacked the creature over the head and helped the man up. They were all test subjects for people who were testing what they would do in the worst situations. One person stepped into a trap that hung him upside down and he got ripped to pieces. After a while only one person made it to the end alive.
Jack was with his favourite cousin Molly in the middle of the forest. It was dark. It was late. They were lost.
Molly started to panic but Jack stayed calm. Jack was very positive so he cheered Molly up and they walked towards the moon. They walked for what seemed like an eternity.
Jack saw something move in the trees. He heard a shriek. He turned around and Molly was gone!
He then saw a large bear who was just about to eat Molly. He grabbed Molly’s hand and they ran for their lives. At last they could see home.
They ran!!
They ran across the world in scuba gear. They ran upside down in the sea. They ran on Mars in jeans and a shirt. They ran through the sun. They ran to the toilet. They ran on their own heads. Their noses ran with them. They ran for Parliament. They ran on dogs and cats. They ran a marathon for charity. They ran on the Earth’s atmosphere. They ran on empty. They ran on baked beans. They ran around in small circles. They ran on eggshells. They ran on larva. They ran the gauntlet.
WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?
Rachel
We ran and ran in till our legs started to go numb.
“I think we lost them, ” I said while trying to catch my breath. Theo was bent over his knees like they had nearly killed him, I couldn’t really stand up myself, but I kept trying to impress him even if he didn’t go for me. We sat in silence for a minute and then we hear shouts coming from the trees getting closer my legs were stuck, I could hear Theo shouting at me to shift it, but I was glued down. Who was coming?
Joe
Waiting for the horn
Waiting for the start
The horn blows
At cross country
Running up the hill
Keeping our breath steady
Walking when we can’t run
At cross country
We hear distant cheers
We cheer back
We run down the first hill
At cross country
Some kids wear uniforms
We wear anything to run in
The sweat on our body comes out on our clothes
At cross country
High fiving the people in the crowd
Running up the hill again
Seeing Danny and coach Martin
We get to the finish line
At cross country now finished
“We’re coming”. That was all that we could hear. We ran out of the house and down the lane, we ran until we reached the main road. Whilst waiting impatiently for the lights to change, she said that they were coming. Finally the lights changed. We charged across the road and down the hill.”We’re coming”, we could hear their rasping breath behind us.”HURRY UP” I shouted to the girl. I saw a cottage and we stumbled inside. We locked the door and sprinted upstairs. We looked around and there they were. Then I woke up. Or was it real?
The shimmering light
Reflects from the ice
The chase is on
Running faster than time.
Heart beating like drum
Sweat gathering on fore head
Legs sprinting on icy ground
The boys run to safety
Of the house by the lake.
They can hear wolves howling
Closely behind the wolves
Rushes fast to get meat.
Those boys ran and ran
It through the snow trying
To get home.
The wolves howl and howl
In the frozen More wolves
The boys gets back to
The house in a rush with
Wolves the kids were very
Fritten and safe
The End
night attracting
Once there lived a girl who had a dream to run, then came the cross-country. She was panicking, she looked around not knowing what to do, this was her first time. Her friends where so excited about doing it but the girl didn’t seem to want to. The horn went and she found herself jostling through the stampede of children. She did not once look behind her to see who was there but she could feel the hot breathe of the other racers. She could see the finish line, she felt like she had wings, she crossed it and smiled.
She woke on a sunny September morning, feeling the nerves jangling inside her and went downstairs to breakfast.
She had been dreading it for weeks but now was feeling rather excited. Today at last was the cross country race.
She wolfed down some cereal, threw on some clothes and raced up the hill to school.
She was there in a flash, all warmed up and ready to go.
They queued up to get their running numbers and filed off to the Heath.
It was a long wait but eventually they were on. The horn blew and hearts thumping, they ran…
They run. They have been running for their whole lives. They never stopped to catch their breath. Nobody knew who they were or what they were. They just kept on running. You would never stare at them because they would be gone in a flash. They didn’t harm anybody, they just kept running. Running for their whole lives. How many are there? Nobody knows. Some worship them, others cower from them. People tell stories about them, but none of them know the truth. People hunt them, but they never catch them. I can tell you that they’re not humans. They are mutants, and they are coming.
Faster and faster
their hearts pounding
they ran
Trampling the grass beneath them
slipping and sliding
they ran, they ran
Stitches shooting through their sides
Feet aching
Sttill they ran, they ran
Shoes dirty, backs sticky
heads throbbing
They ran, they ran
Sun shining, but clouds blooming
wind blows
they ran, they ran
Girls crying, teachers sighing
they ran, they ran
Stomaches bouncing,
hands floppy
they ran, they ran
People cheer
Coach Martin shouts
Miss Thompson frets
they ran, they ran
dogs bark
crows shriek
they ran, they ran
playground busy
ice cream truck bell rings
finally they walked….
It was just the right day for the cross country, warm with a small breeze. We walked for 15 minutes until we got to Hampstead Heath park, the biggest park where I live.
All Camden Schools (years 3-6) took part.
Coach Martin said for me, Kai, William and Mateuse to run with the younger children around the course.
I ran with Molly and Tia in year 3 and Alice O from year 4.
It was a long course and I was completely worn out.
I also ran my race but I came around 200th place.
My friend Caitlin came first.
