“It was to high I can’t do it. I will go back on the smaller one in the other group”. “No you’re too good for the little ones,” said Kate “ok I will try” I said. I went home that night I was thinking about if I’d be good for the show. The next day we practised the show and that day went quick. The week went by and the show arrived! All the parents were watching, it went well and people liked it. After we had cakes and tea, I said to my mum I want a trapeze!
As the lights went down for me I shivered, I couldn’t believe I’d come this far. From just going to a basic club I’d suddenly gone to being in the best circus in the country I tightened my grip on the bar of the trapeze, closed my eyes and… swung! I felt like my skin was coming off, it felt beautiful. I swung back and forth I did the pike, around the world and I even did a back-flip on it. Everybody cheered me on, I felt amazing. After my act was finished my mum and dad hugged me, I smiled.
I stood airborne glistening in the spotlight. My hair flowing like a waterfall down my back. My leotard clinging to me like thousands upon thousands of stars. The curtain slowly being pulled back from the floor like two old friends parting. That tingling feeling just before the show. But there I stood up on the trapeze like a performing angel. Now I’m here I would never go back to a normal life. The circus has become a part of me and the trapeze my best friend but if things had have turned out differently maybe I wouldn’t be here at all.
The peace. The tranquility. The utmost pleasure that makes you feel like you’re floating. But when you lift your body up you come back into the real world. The shouting ,the bustling, the fact that you know you are vulnerable once again. So again you hang, like a bat, until all the blood rushes to your head but you’re so blissfully unaware that it’s dangerous. You couldn’t care less. You finally know where you belong. The goofy feeling you get when your hair touches the floor is like a friendly hello. Like a welcome back party that no one came to but you still felt accepted. The love. The peace. The trapeze.
A guy called Tom Trapeze walked up the road to a circus” wow” Tom said , with amazement. He went back stage to see the circus. One of the acts got sick and could not perform ,so the manager saw him”come here NOW” said the manager. Tom went to the manager. He said he needs to do the trapeze, Tom said “YES”. Within no time at all, Tom had got his costume on, and was heading for the big top. Once he got there he saw the height to which he had to climb, and then wished he had not accepted!
The spotlight focused on me as I walked onto the stage. “And here we have Jack performing on the trapeze!!!” said the showman.
I trembeled with fear that if I didn’t do it properly then the showman would sack me and what’s worse, at the end of the show, he would bring out the ‘cat of nine tails.’ I climbed the ladder, my clothes drenched with sweat. As I got to the top and holder the bars, I looked down, I felt dizzy… so dizzy. I stumbled and fell. I fell and fell and fell till I hit the dreaded floor…
There was a loud crash as Doomsday smashed through the wall into the deserted fairground. Superman had thrown him in there as Doomsday was trying to destroy the Earth. Doomsday roared as Superman flew through the crack and suddenly Doomsday chucked a massive trapeze at Superman but Superman melted it with his laser eyes. Just then, Superman grabbed Doomsday’s arm and chucked Doomsday through the roof and punched his Kryptonian rib cage into orbit then smacked him down to Earth onto a trapeze and as fast as lightning Doomsday got punted back into orbit. Doomsday had been defeated by Superman.
ps guys I didn’t know what to do for my 100 word challenge and I had been playing my superhero game where I was Superman and there for I wrote about Doomsday and Superman battling.
The Trapeze,
A whirl of colour,
Dancing in the dawning sun,
The Trapeze,
No frown,
Always joyful,
Always come to dance.
Fire dancing Trapeze,
Never fade away,
Till the moon has risen up
After its long and lonely sleep,
Fire dancing Trapeze,
Hanging from the roof,
Under the morning sun,
Slowly the Trapeze
Looses the graceful talent,
And gets replaced very quick,
For the show must go on,
New fire dancing Trapeze,
All the same,
And different too,
Comes to this Trapeze,
Though the old is not there,
People like it too,
Still as good,
Fire dancing Trapeze.
(There was somebody called “Called”. Called loved Trapeze) . One day at home Called turned on the T.V and he watched this thing called Trapeze and Called noticed that hes never heard of Trapeze and although he does four times a week of gymnastics he never knew about Trapeze! Called was astonished. He ran to his gymnastic class but it was shut so Called ran to the back and found a vent so Called crawled through the vent. He heard loud clattering below , then silent. It was eerie in the distance and there was loud talking then dead silence then talking right behind him. Called turned but there was nothing but rats then more talking below.
I am very happy to be partnered with you in the double swinging trapeze act. I am excited, yet nervous, about performing our act together. Although I have faith in you, I am still anxious and feel that we need to build 100 percent trust with each other.
The best way to build trust is to do activities together involving trust. Some ideas I have are:
* closing your eyes and falling backwards for me to catch you.
* playing minecraft together and not stealing from each other’s chests.
Sweating,
Jumping,
Risking it all,
Flipping,
Swirling,
Falling,
Being caught again.
Flying,
Elegantly swinging into risk of death,
Watching the spotlights dancing,
The instant pain as you hit the ground,
The silent shock of the crowd sends a wave of pain,
Pushing you to the ground,
The never ending throb as the world spins and collapses into a heap of snapped ropes.
Suddenly you are,
Swinging,
Diving,
Risking it all,
Until you dive into a black hole,
Nothing you can do to stop it.
Then you wake,
Cast and all,
And,
In a few weeks you are CAUTIOUSLY swinging into risk of death.
One day there was a boy called mike and a girl called Alisha. They had a trapeze show on Friday afternoon and Mike felt scared. For four years they had had trapeze lessons. One day Mike asked if he had another trapeze lesson because he thought he would mess up in front of people. His mum said ”You won’t mess up it’s only for 20 minutes it’s not that long.” It was Friday and they made everthing ready. People came in and Mike and Alisha were ready. “Ladies and gentlemen, it is the time that you have all been waiting for. Please may I present you Mike and Alisha and their amazing trapeze trickes!” It was lovely. It was the best thing I ever saw.
100 word-challenge prompt this week TRAPEZE
By Tom. D. Williams
Did you know that on November 12, 1859: a French acrobat performed the first flying trapeze act by the name of Jules Leotard? (The body hugging costume he used was later named after him.)
Did you know that Jules Leopard performed at the Cirque Napoleon without a safety net?
Did you know that this very day, the flying trapeze is a must in most every circus? Flyers soar approximately 50 feet above the air. Most use safety nets to catch them should they misjudge the timing of a jump.
Once there was a girl called Poppy who was playing in the meadow and came across a long coil of thick yellow rope and a plank of narrow wood. Poppy was very confused by this so she went to get her friend Daisy. Daisy was a very smart girl who was older than Poppy but she couldn’t figure it out either. Finally they got their friend Zara to try. Zara was older than them and she said
“Why don’t you make a trapeze?!”
And so they spent hours on the trapeze that they made it until it eventually broke.
TRAPEZE
I swing on a TRAPEZE in the BREEZE. I need to reach my KEYS that are stuck in the TREES. I swing and swing – oh no – I SNEEZE. I let go and land on my KNEES in a hive full of BEES. I FREEZE. Don’t sting me PLEASE. They sting. I itch and I swell and I WHEEZE. So I run and jump into a bath full of cold, mushy PEAS. Slowly the pain starts to EASE. I relax and think of my pets, a mouse who’s BURMESE and likes CHEESE and a dog (a BERNESE) who has FLEAS.
The bar of the trapeze shook under my feet as I slowly and not so gracefully wobbled up into a standing position. I tried not to look down but then realised it was completely hopeless as our instructor was on the ground not magically floating around in mid air. As I glanced down to the floor, which seemed to be miles away and slowly rocking back and forth , my belly gave a massive flollup and my whole body trembled as I gripped the ropes as hard as my hands would let me.
“Now class, kite position” she said
I gulped..
“Why don’t we play football?” I asked desperately. My friend shook his head AGAIN!!!!!!!! I stomped off to our home. Why didn’t he want to play a game? Surely there must be something… I know!!!!! A game of basketball! He LOVES basketball… But he said no to that already. I looked up every game in history and he still said “NO!” If there was anyone I could ask who had a game he would play, I would do anything for that answer, that cure. Then he came into the room…
“Do you want to play a game of basketball?”he asked.
THE SHOW!

I think this prompt could encourage more people to do the 100.
