On the Farm
Down on the farm, where the cows all graze,
And the horse is getting hungry, where’s his straw and hay?
The pigs are all having a squelchy mud bath,
And all the crops grow extremely fast.
Hens are laying eggs for the farmers tummy,
And a duckling’s over there, squeaking to his mummy.
The farm dog is chasing a kitten up a tree,
And everyone needs a nice cup of tea.
The sheep are being naughty, ’cause they’re having a trim,
We need EP to keep them safe from harm.
And Year 6 to make it all calm.
Sophie always loved the countryside but her family lived in London . Every year she would go and one year the family decided to stay. They moved on to a farm but it did mean early mornings, collecting eggs, feeding piglets and herding sheep. One day on a hot summers day something felt different to Sophie .She realised that a baby calve had got lost in the nearby woods because her father must of left the gat open . She looked far and wide and managed to find a large lake and the other side was the little calve mooing. She hoped on a old rowing boat and managed to get her across . Yay
I’m a farm cat and this is my journey when I head for home. First, I run into the pigs that are usually just oinking, rolling around in mud and making a complete mess of themselves. Next are the sheep that are usually happily grazing and falling over on their tiny legs. After that are the chickens, which are just clucking and being chickens. Soon after, are the cows mooing and hoping they don’t become meat in the next few minutes. Last, are the sheepdogs, when they’re not herding sheep they’re being pets! That is my journey home, bye meoooooow.
Calves are born
Chicks hatch
When were on the farm.
Eggs get laid
Farmer gets paid
When were on the farm.
Wellies are on
Waterproofs too
When we’re on the farm.
Bread is toasting
Lamb is roasting
When we’re on the farm.
Horses in the stables
Children on the hay bales
When we’re on the farm.
Bunkbeds in the dorms
Up and out in the morn
When we’re on the farm
Wheat is laid
Crops are made
When we’re on the farm.
Farmer John put chickens on your head
Well, that’s what Miss T said!!
We’re going to the farm!
On the Farm
Have you ever wondered about what aliens would farm? Would it be something that is similar to things that we grow, or would it be something completely different? Maybe an apple shaped thing, but TEN times bigger! Maybe a cow that produces milkshake instead of milk! What if they had a chicken that laid solid gold eggs! Or a way of converting crops to fuel! What wonders we would have! Endless gold, endless food, endless drink! Although, the native aliens might not like us taking their stuff. I think it would be better to leave them be.
Sheep, cow, chicken and horse,
don’t forget year Six of course,
all are things you’ll find on the farm,
Though none of them could cause any harm,
Again putting on our muddy wellies,
With an amazing lunch in our bellies,
Seeing baby animals be born,
If we’re with the goats our clothes get torn,
We (hopefully) get hot chocs at night,
And we have candles to light,
For Bela’s 11 birthday,
And everyone else’s soon,
We’ll have a big celebration,
And meet you all back at E.P soon!
That my friend, piers and classmates was the on the farm poem!
The farm is a home to many people and animals. In the UK, there are 10 million cattle, 5 million pigs, 160 million chickens and 35 million sheep! This country has the most sheep in Europe. There are many different types of farms such as dairy farms, farms that grow crops and farms that keep animals for their meat or milk. In Wick Court we are going to be involved with all of them. Farms vary in shapes and sizes, they go from being small and organic to large and industrial. Farms in the UK cover 80% of the country!
On the farm there was a sheep called Gurtrude. And she was no ordinary sheep. Every night Gurtrude would sneak out of her pen and put on a show. And it was always a different act. One night it could be a singing show, the next it could be a magic show. It didn’t matter what she did the crowd would always go wild! They all adored Gurtrude, some would make flags, some would chant her name, but as soon as they heard farmer Jerold walking past, it would all go. And the animals would all go back to their pens and fall asleep
On the farm
On the farm I see pigs and cows there are also sheep and goats . The farmer wakes up at 6:00am when the sun is still coming out. He feeds the animals and milks the cows. The farmer has eggs on toast for breakfast, and hears the birds start to tweet, he doesn’t know how lucky he is to live on the farm. Lot’s of children come and visit, and now 30 lucky school kids are excited, they can’t wait to go! The great wick court! By Elodie
