Our equality objectives and principles 2021-2025
Eleanor Palmer Primary School will actively work towards fulfilling its Equality Objectives for 2021 – 2025 and the Equality Act 2010 by following these general and specific principles:
General principles
To value all learners equally, whatever their ethnicity, culture, national origin or status, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious or non-religious affiliation or faith background, and whether they have special educational needs, a disability or they are neurodiverse.
To recognise, respect and value difference, understanding diversity as a strength. To take account of differences and strive to remove barriers and disadvantages which people may face, in relation to disability, ethnicity, gender, religion, belief or faith and sexual orientation.
To foster positive attitudes and respectful relationships throughout our school community.
To foster a shared sense of cohesion and belonging. We want all members of our school community to feel a sense of belonging within the school and wider community and to know that they are respected and able to participate fully in school life.
To eliminate prejudice, discrimination, harassment and bullying, and to increase understanding of equality through direct teaching across the curriculum. We will promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through all appropriate curricular and extra-curricular opportunities.
To eliminate deterministic notions of fixed ability through staff behaviour and all types of communication, developing a growth mindset in pupils and avoiding labeling. We have the highest expectations of all our pupils, in terms of progress and achieving excellence.
To work to raise standards for all pupils, but especially for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. We believe that improving the quality of education for the most vulnerable groups of pupils raises standards across the whole school for everyone.
To implement equal opportunities principles, monitoring and actively promoting equality in all aspects of staffing and employment, including recruitment and continuing professional development.
To take every opportunity to increase the diversity of the staff and governing body of the school, as well as visitors and work-shop leaders, to reflect the diversity of our community.

- To develop an advocacy model of governance and ensure equality is central to our governing body meetings, policies and procedures.
- To continue to challenge Camden on admissions so as to ensure that this remains a diverse community school.
- To support our growing minority of LAC children and their families.
- To ensure the effective inclusion of our growing minority of ASD pupils.
