Sam had the brilliant suggestion that a book blog would be a great way for us to share book recommendations.
We will be holding a Book Club in class once a month but this is the place to spread the word about that amazing book you have just finished and are dying to share with your friends!
Let’s get reading and reviewing…
Remember to check out the weekly book review in the yellow newsletter…this week Arthur reviewed ‘Carrie’s War’ which is a great novel set during World War Two.
I have recently read The Hunger Games and I highly recommend it! I could barely put it down. If you like action books then this is the book for you and also I think Suzanne Collins (the author) has a brilliant imagination!
Thanks for getting us started Nellster! Has anyone else read The Hunger Games?
No but Sarah recommended it to me and Roisin.
I have just started to read “Screaming Sands” by Sam Hay. The
story has magic adventure and my favourite stuff on ghosts. Read it if you get a chance.
Thanks Rahi! Sounds intriguing!
I have started to read ‘My Name Is Mina’ though I haven’t finished reading it yet. I will recommend it when I’ve finished it…
If you like Roald Dahl books, and want to find out about his childhood then this is the book for you! Its called Boy, Tales of Childhood. He tells lots of stories about what he got up to when he was younger, he was actually very mischievous. I highly recommend it.
At the moment I am doing lots of comprehensions on this really fun, exciting thriller called ‘Storm Rider’! There is a whole series, so I can’t wait to read the next one. It’s by Anthony Horowitz and includes loooaads of breathtaking moments!
I am so enjoying reading all these recommendations, well done guys! It’s great to see a real variety of reviews.
Joe, I am also a huge fan of ‘Boy, Tales of Childhood’ : it’s one I read and re-read…especially ‘The Great Mouse Plot’ chapter! I can also recommend the sequel, ‘Going Solo’. Great topic links too!
I enjoy the writer Rick Riordan. He is the writer of Percy Jackson but also ‘Heroes of Olympus’ (a continuation of Percy Jackson). He wrote the Kane Chronicles which is my personal favourite. I hope you like adventures and cliff hangers because these books are full of them!
I have just finished ‘My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece’ by Annabel Pitcher and I also recommend her other book ‘Ketchup Clouds’.
