Year 1 went onto Hampstead Heath to look for signs of spring.

We used a magnifying glass to look for buds and shots. We learnt that the leaves on a Hawthorn bush indicate spring is here. As do dandelion and bluebell flowers!

Next, we learnt the calls of different birds. Bird song is a sign of spring!

Lastly, we built bird nests out of natural materials. We learnt how to weave twigs and dry grass together.

We are really excited about spring… although now we need to think about the signs of summer!!
