The Great Fire of London was re-created by Year 1 today!
Everyone in the class had made a house for their extended homework – and the models were lined-up to represent Pudding Lane in September 1666.
Just like the real event our Year 1 fire started in the baker’s shop, which belonged to Thomas Farynor, baker to King Charles II
The fire quickly spread as the houses were crowded together, there was a strong wind and the wood (cardboard) was very dry!!
The fire stopped at a gap in the houses – which is exactly what happened on day 4 of the Great Fire of London!
It was a spectacular and thought-provoking event! We returned to the class to draw a picture of the Great Fire for our newspaper articles!
